About
- I am a physician (MD), scientist (PhD), Professor of Cardiac imaging, and Director of Clinical Imaging at the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia.
- I am principal investigator for and lead the University of Sydney Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Group. Our research interests are focused on how the heart works, and how we can learn more about the heart using medical imaging. In particular, my interests include non-invasive cardiac imaging, MRI, CT, SPECT, echocardiography, electrocardiography (ECG), the diagnoses ischemic heart disease and heart failure, ischemic pathophysiology, and basic cardiac pumping physiology.
- I am founder of the company Advanced ECG Systems, which is a start-up that is a spinoff from our research on using ECG to detect heart disease.
- I also hold the following academic affiliations:
- Associate Professor in the medical specialty Clinical Physiology, Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden
- Honorary Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia
- My interests outside work include trail running, biking, hiking, skiing, male choir, SCUBA diving, paleolithic diet, and a fascination with emerging technologies.
